Initial Information

Families and friends-

We are pushing on with a musical this year. Yes, that's right, the musical is ON!

After speaking with administration, trusted colleagues, and professionals in both the science and the theatre industry, we have made the decision to move ahead with a socially distant version of the Metcalf musical being held OUTSIDE. While there are a lot of moving pieces to be figured out on that end regarding how things will look and how it will be done safely (and it WILL be done safely, this is my top priority), I can say confidently that we are thrilled to be moving towards an unforgettable experience for the performers and audience alike.

However, with the good also comes the bad. As we will follow health and safety guidelines, it is impossible to do the large cast productions where everyone who wants to be involved will be able to be involved. We will be limiting the cast involvement to between 16-22 and crew involvement to between 6-8. While this will, obviously, lead to some broken hearts in the coming months, it's what's necessary to keep us all safe. Due to the small number of students who can be involved this year, we will be limiting auditions to those in grades 5-8 (Sorry, 4th grade. Next year!) and will cast the shows roles based on the actor's ability, but more importantly, their AVAILIBILITY and ATTITUDE. We will get more into that at a later date. But now....without further ado....presenting the 2021 Spring Musical.

The Getting To Know Series: Uniquely adapted musicals specifically for youth performers.

Synopsis: One of the most explosive movie musicals in recent memory bursts onto the live stage with exhilarating results. When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, he is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. What he isn't prepared for are the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, determined to exercise the control over the town's youth that he cannot command in his own home. When the reverend's rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren's reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. The heartfelt story that emerges is of a father longing for the son he lost and of a young man aching for the father who walked out on him. To the rockin' rhythm of its Oscar and Tony-nominated Top 40 score (the soundtrack album reached number one on the Billboard charts and has sold over 17 million copies!) and augmented with dynamic new songs for the stage musical, Footloose celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people, guiding them with a warm heart and an open mind.
